inputrc ファイルはキーボードに応じたキーボードマップを定めます。
このファイルは入力に関連するライブラリ Readline が利用するもので、このライブラリは Bash などのシェルから呼び出されます。
ユーザー固有のキーボードマップを必要となるのはまれなので、以下の /etc/inputrc
ファイルによって、ログインユーザーすべてに共通するグローバルな定義を生成します。
各ユーザーごとにこのデフォルト定義を上書きする必要が出てきた場合は、ユーザーのホームディレクトリに .inputrc ファイルを生成して、修正マップを定義することもできます。
inputrc ファイルの設定方法については info bash により表示される Readline Init File の節に詳しい説明があります。

コメントをつけて各オプションを説明しています。 コメントはコマンドと同一行に記述することはできません。
